What is one story you can tell about a family home you no longer have access to?
(Detroit Workshop + Iftar on Sunday 2.22.26 from 2-7 pm)
From the West Bank to the Westside: Dreaming of Home is an interactive workshop exploring housing dispossession from Palestine to Detroit, and the systems that shape access to home across generations. Participants will engage in storytelling, reflection, and small/large group dialogue.
Participants will leave this workshop with:
Greater capacity to connect personal and community stories of home, displacement, and belonging to broader structural forces.
Strengthened relationships and dialogue across communities through facilitated storytelling and collective reflection.
Inspiration to engage in solidarity-based action and community-rooted efforts related to housing and neighborhood revitalization.
Registration is $20 to confirm attendance and support the hosting of this workshop. All proceeds from this gathering will benefit the building of the Dream Center for Dream of Detroit. Hosted by Namira Islam, this interactive workshop will be hosted at Monarch Boulevard in Detroit. You will receive registration details and a calendar invite to the event after registering.
